Singer 128 Handcrank - New Decal Install
Hey folks,
A few people have asked about using replacement decals and since I have bought two sets of decals without using them yet, I figured I should be the one to get off my backside and try it.
Here is the Singer 128 as it looked when I got it..

Not bad but not exactly pretty....
So, I practiced removing decals and ended up with this

Here is the new decal set cut out
NOTE: These designs are the "Celtic set based on the Singer 9W" design. It was NEVER produced by singer, only by the aftermarket guy on EBay, but I like them)

taped in place to get my head around what goes where

Decals in the water (using a pyrex loafpan)

So, once they have sat in the water a minute or two, i found i could reach into the water and while holding it underwater carefully slide the decal so it would release from the backing. Then it was VERY easy to position. Once positioned, I wiped over it with the wet sponge to chase out any bubbles.
It really was very easy. Just took my time and did one at a time.

Looks great Steve! I was eyeing those decal sets and wondered how they would look. It's a big $$ to consider! I saw some multi-color ones now too.
It sure makes the machine look nice. Thanks for sharing about it.

these were under $20 (single color)
I have not done the clear coat yet. still working that out.
What I asked the person on Ebay to make and was waiting for (but got tired of waiting) was a set of 3 color gingerbread decals scaled for the 128. He agreed that it was a good idea but it would be "a couple months" well....
