Singer 201-2

Singer 201-2
I just acquired a Singer 201-2 for $40 with its original manual that is in almost perfect shape. It has a load of attachments in their original boxes that are in great shape, plus the button attachment with extras. The machine is in a nice cabinet (that needs refinished). The cabinet has a row of drawers behind a swing-out cover that hides the drawers. I'll post pictures when I bring it in the house. It will need the cord rewired or a new one because the original cord has lots of electrical tape around it. The foot pedal appears to be made into the cabinet. I can't wait to try her out!! Do you think I got a bargain?

Sounds like a great deal. Though the real "bargain" may depend on what you got in the way of attachments, as several of the rarer ones are worth way more than the machine and desk. The most expensive ones would be a black walking foot and the two thread embroidery attachment.
I like the style of cabinet you are describing. I have the later version where the drawers have the curved front. Do you have the inkwell in the small left hand drawer?

Sounds like a great deal to me!
Cathy, I have the art deco cabinet with the curved drawers also that houses a 15-91 from 1945. I see that there are two versions, one with the "door" that covers those three drawers on the right like ladydukes has and one without a door but still has the three drawers like you and I have, I think. So it sounds like the covered drawers are an older version? Would that be before 1945 then? Mine does have the inkwell in it but no ink resides there, just pins.
