Default Singer 201-3 "The Aristocrat of Sewing Machines"

I think my hubby is getting "frustrated" with my obsession with vintage sewing machines, but who cannot pass up a 201-3 for$25 I'm a cabinet. I love the original adverts with it!

Was the 201-3 made in USA? I thought all of the belt-driven 201 machines were 201K from Britain or Canada. I'm just asking, not picking a fight. I just want to get the facts straight. The only belt-driven 201 that I have ever seen is the 201K that I bought on ebay. I have only found 201 potted motor machines everywhere other than ebay.

I am in St. John's Newfoundland Canada. I have the paperwork from the original sale, purchased in Toronto Canada. The motor is stamped made in Canada. And all the brochures state "now available in Canada" The serial number EG 922338 lists it as a 201k. I would guess e head was made in Britian, shipped to Canada for the motor and cabinet.

At that price I would have grabbed it too. I like the 201 even though it's just an upgraded version of the 66.

I read the text in the add. What a bunch of hype. A good running 66 will do the same things they claimed for the 201.

Not dissing the machine, just posting my observations.

Joe, Good catch with the hype in the ad. You are correct about a 66 or a 15 being able to do the same thing.
