Blackberry

A few days ago I posted my find for this gorgeous machine. Someone on the board said it is a Singer 24. I can find a needle on ebay but it appears to need a thread guide from looking at the holes on the side of the machine and also from looking at pictures. I know it will be impossible to find a thread guide but I was just wondering how important is the thread guide along the front of the left side for this machine.

I've made my own from"piano" wire from hobby store or old time hardware store. just try and duplicate original thread path as much as possible. just my 2¢
