"IF" the 3012 you have is the same as the one I found pics of on Google then it's about a mid 90s machine ± a year or two. They are decent to OK but do have plastic gears and stamped parts.
I have a 4622A from the early 90s that we use occasionally and so far it has given us very little to complain about.
As for the original price, I have no idea.

Sometimes it depends on the machine. I think that a few people who own say the Pfaff Tipmatic/TipTronic/etc machines might be surprised by how much plastic is in them, but I still find them quite resilient.
I have a Pfaff 6122 and its the machine that I use for darning my jeans regularly, and I do that knowing how much plastic is in it.
