Singer 99K
I found a Singer 99K today at a yard sale. It's in really good shape, has a case that looks like a suitcase . The box of parts was with it and a lot of extra feet. No book, but I think I can find that. The case also had the key with it. Cost me $45.00. She runs well even tho she needs a thorough cleaning. I'm happy with her. Thought I was buying my third Featherweight until I got her home where I could see her! lol Anybody know anything about this machine?

I bought one at Goodwill and I love it. Its a great little machine. Here is a link to a free manual from Singer http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/451_99.pdf
I have bought parts like bobbins from Sew-Classic http://shop.sew-classic.com/1-Sewing...e-Parts_c2.htm
We'd love to see a picture of your new machine. The case with yours sounds very interesting. Mine was in a plastic case.

Got mine from a local garage sale. Sat in a barn for years and was frozen solid and rusty. Motor was shot and no knee bar so I converted it to a hand crank and with a little oil and lots of cleaning the machine sews fantastic.

I got mine from Craigslist in a #49 Singer cabinet. They said it worked the last time it was used was in the '90s. I found that the motor was shot, the presser foot was broken and the wiring was bad. I bought a 99 in the bottom half of a bentwood case (no top) for parts and replaced everything, cleaned it up and it sews great. Now I am thinking I should fix up the parts machine! Maybe make it a hand crank but I need more parts now.

Thanks for that link to the 99K manual. I picked up my sister's Singer 99K yesterday, she and I had driven about 50 miles a year ago so she could buy this little cutie. Normally she was so not impulsive at all and so was totally out of character that afternoon, we had such a good time that day. Unfortunatly she passed away totally unexpected the 27th of October last year. This weekend her children were finally able to do the final clean out of her home and they wanted me to have the machine. I love this little machine and have wonderful memories of our fun filled afternoon.
