If that isn't the case, I think the top unscrews and can be removed, and you can poke the stub out from below.

I don't think so - if I remember right and it was the 'birthday candle' one that looked like white wax or plastic - it just sort of flew out - I think I just stuck the new one in the hole.

Hi again! I went back today and talked her down to a more reasonable price. Turns out it was there so long she couldn't remember what she paid for it and it wasn't in their computer system. So i am now the proud owner of a Singer Fashionmate 237, i got it for the low low price of $20. It's my second Singer, my first one was the Singer Graduate.
