i have a red eye singer, I helped my friend clean out her thrift store and I found two sewing machines that she gave me, one a red eye and one a pricision. My friend got both to work and I added them to my collection

I have one exactly like that, cabinet and all. I got it at a rummage sale for $40. I just love it. It sews beautifully. I took it apart a bit to clean it well (it hadn't been cleaned for many years), oiled it up, and am enjoying it very much. I think your price is fair. I'm sure you've already been referred to Lostn51's tutorials on how to clean it. I had to put on a new belt, but other than the cleaning inside and out, it will work for many, many more years. Enjoy your little beauty!

What a honey! I would give my eye teeth (if I still had them) to have a machine and cabinet like that. But, alas, I don't have the room for one. That looks exactly like the machine I learned to sew on, and my grandmother made many of my clothes on before I learned to sew for myself. Is the bobbin a long spindle type thing? That's what was on my grandmothers machine! I just read on another comment that the machine has a shuttle into which that lond spindle bobbin goes. That's exactly like my grandmothers machine. Oh I wonder where it went. It seems everyone picked and chose when she passed, but I wasn't there and have very little of her little treasures. I see them all at my relatives though! But not the sewing machine. She and I were the only ones that sewed.

I have a problem with my bones and was told to look for a treadle machine to exercize them with it but so far no luck till this week end and found one for $149.00 with pieces missing like the throat plate, bobbins etc. I am on a very thin budget so will have to pass it up as I cannot afford to
