You'll be using wasp and hornet spray as a cleaner?? I hope it doesn't hurt the finish...

As a temporary fix for my broken take up arm I'm us a metal eyelet as a replacement. In two of these pictures you can se me using a singer 99 to measure and bend the metal to the approximate size.

I fixed a broken take up arm with a cotter pin attached with thin wire and JB Weld, it worked OK.
