Default Singer Stylist 533

ok y'all don't laugh but this is really embarrassing. I got several/bunch of sewing machines my mom had bought at various sales and took some out to try. This happened to be one and thanks to a youtube tip I knew the extension table was somehow tucked inside the lid/case...well I don't remember how to put it back. it should be simple but nothing I do makes it snap into place. does anyone know how it goes back inside?

also is this on of the non-desirable sewing machines with the plastic gears? I've heard some negative things but hey this was a freebie for me and a part of history I was alive during so guess I'll try it out some more one of these days though I may never take it out again if I ever get the lid back on...sigh...

well as soon as I humiliated myself by posting I figured it out - figures huh?! figured it HAD to go on one of the ends and it did - just had to give it a little push for foot to go up into the plastic part of the case...now to figure out how to get the lid back on the 403...unless I grabbed the wrong lid but it's the only one left so it HAS to be the right one...

Sometimes just the act of asking gives us the answers we need.

The 533 does have the plastic gears, but it is a decent sewing machine. My wife is currently using a 518 and it's working good. One tip though, pull the top and bottom off and check all the gears. If they are the straight cut teeth type, they can be replaced with the much better spiral cut gears. The 518 has these and seems to be the better for it.
