    i already have the wire, thanks. just want box. I found some compact old surface outlets at the recycle yard but they didn't lend themselves to rewiring.

    I know see that you have the wire already. That's me, post first, read later...LOL. Well, others might be interested in that resource.

    The only other thing I can think of for the electrical boxes is to take them out of other machines that one might want to turn into treadles, or handcranks.

    An awful lot of the time those boxes are what are bad on an old machine so I doubt if you are going to get a good one that way. You can either make one or buy one on line.
