Some Davis attachments
Hi!
I'm new here and new to antique/vintage machines. I’m doing my best to do my own research, but since I’m so new to old machines I could use a little help.
I got a late 1880s Davis VF this week and am doing my best to clean it up and service it myself. I did find a free manual online which helps.
It has been with the same family since it was bought in 1905 by a mother for her daughter. She sewed on it into her 90s, and all those years she kept the original receipt.
It came to me with quite a few of the standard attachments. I think I’ve been able to identify most of them, but there are a few pieces I just have no clue what they are for. Any help would be appreciated. Can’t wait to get it up and running.
I have trouble posting pics from my phone on the original post but for some reason I can do it as a reply so I’m going to try replying to myself to get the pictures on.

This surprised me on my treadle VF. Most treadle axles are not cone shaped.. https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...38-580552.html
receipt is very cool Welcome aboard.

Oh man I got lucky then. I stuck a scrap under it after and it looks fine. I also watched videos of people sewing on them and stared at the pics in my manual to see if it looked right. My heart SANK when the pieces fell all over me. And then I was like oh that’s why there are holes for oiling. Got the dust and lint out at least.

Frequently the tuckers come apart and pieces get separated. I'm not getting a very clear view. The seam guide appears to be what was termed "self-sewer" There were several patents for the "self-sewer" and "guides" in the early years.
Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

I don’t think it’s part of the guide - at least the guide in the manual- because I already found those pieces (yay!) and the mystery pieces don’t seem to fit well as guides. I can upload some better pics and a pic of the tucker a little later. Thanks for all your help so far!
