Saw your post on Singer 301 painted white on e-bay----so watched it and bid toward the last of the auction....didn't get get but got a second chance offer for it.....and just couldn't pass it up as I have ones in black, tan, and tan and cream combination. I love the the 301's as much as the featherweights to piece on.....well, I do love Pitiful Pearl the featherweight alot.....Anyway, should be getting the white 301 next week.

I once saw a burgandy color machine on someplace on here and I LOVED THAT COLOR....how would it be if I was to take this new 301 I just found and put it in burgandy? would that be wrong, to change an antique machines colors?

It's not wrong if you own the machine! I personally feel it's a shame to repaint any machine, as it will never be quite as good as the original. However, if the machine's paint is in poor condition, like my 201 I picked up recently, and it's presenting a risk to the integrity of the machine as a whole, it's a good idea to consider repainting.

I would not repaint a "rare" machine ( only a few in the world) but-----most of our vintage machines are not rare---my machines bring me joy and increase my happiness as I sew mostly for others......so, it having a burgandy machine makes you happy, I say go for it.

I say go for it! It is your machine, and there are other 301's for prosperity so it won't end the line if it isn't original.
