I have a Bernina that cost as much as my first car and it refuses to start up tonight!!
I am so happy that I have a nifty little featherweight to sew with and it never refuses to start.
Now to find a decent Elna Lotus to add to my collection.

Sorry to hear about the Bernina. Hopefully it's an easy / not overly expensive repair.
I guess to some the extremely high prices of modern sewing machines is worth it, but it makes no sense to me. Especially due to the fragile nature of electronics and computers used.
Give me mechanical, very little to go wrong.

joobee,
Last year my Viking Sapphire 875 did something similar, so while it was in the hospital; my Bernina 930, rode in on her white horse and saved the day! haha I was in the middle of quilting and the Sapphire stuck her tongue out and said, "I'm a diva and not going to work today." The 1914 Singer 115 treadle got to help out too.

Took the Bernina in to be fixed and thankfully it was just a small glitch that could be fixed easily. Only took 10 minutes and cost nothing! She is back running, but it was nice to oil up the featherweight and stitch for a while.

The machine would turn on and show the start screen, then go to the welcome screen, then shut off and repeat the procedure over and over. Never fully turning on. She said that they had one other Bernina (same model) do the same thing and after they have used the USB stick to reboot it that it has not happened again.
Apparently the file that starts the machine became corrupted somehow and was just looping over and over, not able to advance to startup. I guess the USB rebooted and corrected the glitch. I am sorry not to be more tech savvy.
I have to say I really am enjoying reading and learning how the Vintage Machine are being restored and returned to use. It is really an art form. So much to learn!

Glad your machine didn't need a major repair. You have a very good repairman and an honest one too. It is almost necessary today to have at least one back up machine.

Glad it was an easy fix. My expensive Viking's mother board went bad 5 days before it was out of warranty! Didn't have to pay for a new mother board, but had to pay $120 labor charges! Sold the machine, sticking to my vintage machines with no motherboard... I just keep an inexpensive modern machine around for when I need fancy stitches. It doesn't get much use. Love my 15-91! And my 201, 301, FW, etc.....
