Default Is there anyone near enough to Tacoma, WA ....

to pick up a machine at GW, pack it and ship it to me?
Unfortunately it's one of those "Pick Up Only" things.

If you can do this please PM me your email address and we'll take it from there.

    Back ground story:

My wife learned to sew on an old black Singer knee bar machine. But ... it wasn't a 15 as the tension was at the front like a 66. It also had the round disk with the stitch length lever in it like a 15. Well, we found one.

I think that is the first full size knee lever case I've seen. Hope you can find someone to help you get it!

I wondered if anyone else was frustrated with the Tacoma Goodwill online. They will not ship anything for any reason. The machines there go for next to nothing and I've missed some good ones due to that. Of course, I've found 12 others in different locations!

It takes a lot of time and materials to properly pack and ship a heavy machine. I've only shipped two and it took me at least an hour and probably $25 worth of packing materials for each one. I completely understand why they choose not to do it. The materials may cost more than the profit from selling an item. It's interesting how most GW locations do ship and a few don't..

It's very nice of Rodney to do this and it's great that we have a network of people to help us when needed!

I'm willing to help out when I'm able ( as long as I'm not bidding on the same machine of course! ). I live about an hour or so away from Tacoma so I don't get up there that often but it doesn't hurt to ask. If Joe gets his machine I'll let people know if there are any unforseen issues picking it up.
It's funny because I see nice machines at other facilities that don't ship either so I think it's an issue that frustrates a lot of us.

Most of the GW locations that don't ship have a contact link to get info. for a third party that will pick up the item and ship it to you. I actually got this info. once as I was interested in a machine. It wasn't an outrageous sum, from what I remember.

In the last year or so we've sold 14 machines. Two of them we shipped. Yes, it is a pain in neck to pack them solid. But we do it. We get boxes for free from a local grocer, and use the bubble wrap that the machines we've bought have come in.

The machine in Tacoma will be the last one we go for this year ... maybe .... cos I'm liking the room that appears as the machines we sell disappear.

    Rodney,
I'm glad you weren't bidding on that one. Thanks for being willing to pick it up for me.

UPS won't insure anything in used boxes, so I have to buy new boxes for them to cover any damages. I've received more damaged merchandise via USPS than any other shipping service, so I avoid using them.
