Why is it that the sight, and especially the sound of an old sewing machine brings joy to my heart? Am I just weird?

I saw that last night and so wanted to call some friends and say turn the TV to Discovery and see what is happening - but was afraid it might be too late for some. I found it very interesting and I am glad to live in KS with indoor plumbing. I too have a treadle but I am very partial to indoor plumbing. :>)

Cool machine. I have to ask - Sideways and Windblown - what machines are those in your Avatars? From what I see they are beautiful!

The one in my avatar is a Free #5 I also have a Singer 66 treadle, I love them both, the Singer for sewing and the Free#5 just to look at. It can sew but I prefer the 66's stitches. I just love the sound and the feel of treadling.

Looked it up to see the whole machine. Saw one in a gorgeous parlor cabinet. Love the decals!

I wanted to see a better pic of the poor cow's bra! Will have to watch the show online. My sister has been watching it, amazed these folks are surviving.
