Default Trying To Date My German Singer Sewing Machine SN starting with a C

Trying to narrow down date and possibly value my fully functioning German Singer Sewing Machine with SN C3159528.. No Longer has its wooden case top and knee operator. Has an USA foot pedal added. Also has its German motor

According To My Research, Per ISMACS,Serial Numbers Starting With Single Letter C.Beginning 1908 To When Russian army invaded Germany in 1945, they stripped all the machinery from the Singer Company's Wittenberg factory.

This was my step grandfather and his first wife who were German Immigrants.

Beautiful machine. I also have 2 other pre and post war featherlights.

Not seeing where I can add pics yet?

    Thanks Ahead For All Input
    Nancy

This is a copy of Janey's post on how to post a photo.

    Again, thank Janey.

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button. As shown at Standard Sewing Machine Co. Paragon

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.
    https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...p-location.jpg

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of quilt block ID?

Another way to post pictures can be found at 2021/2022, 2.5” Birthday Swap
And how to use an ipad to post pictures can be found at Uploading photos

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
    Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

    Some additional notes -
The photos generally need to be reduced to less than 2MB in size. I have heard of people sending an email to themselves as it will ask if you want to reduce the size.

I have an android phone and when I tried to reply on Quilting Board while in mobile view None of the options for adding pictures was available. However, there is an option down at the bottom left of the page that is for Full Site when I tapped on "Full Site" It then looked like the way it looks on my lap top. So it would have the Red Reply and the Go Advanced options.

    Do Not Preview post.

Welcome, you have a very nice looking 201D3 (I think that is what it would be considered). External motors on 201 machines aren't found often in US.

As you have discovered the C serial numbers are very hard to date. There have been some lists which were said to be wrong. There is post on another forum that indicated that the "C 3333118 is in a batch with 35.000 others. Dating is Christmas 1937." Also on that forum it indicated that the badge on your machine started about 1933. According the the ISMACS comprehensive model list, the 201 didn't come about until 1935. So it might be that the closest you may come to the date for your machine is 1935-1937. Also something to note with the US and Kilbowie serial numbers date is the date the numbers were allocated, not the date they were actually made.

There are manuals for a later 201K at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/68...nger-201k.html and https://www.manualslib.com/manual/36...nger-201k.html

    Default Same Machine

I have the same exact machine EXCEPT mine has an [A] as the letter in the serial number. Original sewing table in perfect condition as well. Found it at a storage shed yard sale and a "name your price" tag. I opened my bag and handed her $40. Her husband said good riddance and loaded it up in my friend's van. It sits in my dining room. Was told that it could have been sold for over $1500.00 and would have been a steal. I know these people knew NOTHING about these machines as the price was so low.

YES it does work. Only thing added was the light at the back so the lady could see the fabric she was sewing. Have no idea but I have it now and it is NOT going anywhere for a good long time.
