    Candace,

That might explain some of the noise from my old 99K I call Rusty. I'll have to double check that bearing to see about any flat spots.

I mostly sew slow for control, but my wife can really get 'em going. Strangely though she really likes the little 185J we have.

Is your 185 in a table, Joe? That may help control it. I think any machine that's held down by hinges in a table, will be more secure and much less apt to move. :>

That shelf liner is a good idea, Miriam.

Shelf liner is a great idea. I have put it under the feet of my Sew-ezi table because it vibrated too much for my liking but somehow I never made the connection in my brain of using it under the actual machine. I've got some left so I will dig it out and get some under my machines. Thank you!

I'm thinking I might get some to put under foot pedals when I put the machines away - the foot pedals tend to rough up the paint on the machine.

No table or cabinets. All our 3/4 size machines are portables.

May I ask what foot you use to do your piecing with? The configuration of the feed dogs makes it difficult to piece on my 99K.

I have to say that my Singer 66 is the machine I go to for everything, but I really wish she had a reverse. I have two 99's, and a green one from the 60's that I use for the zig zag.
