While digging around in the shop DH came upon an old Redeye head and we had a hard time remembering when and why we acquired it. Then we remember we'd bought it for the cabinet because the head was so grody. He got it out and cleaned it up and it moves freely and everything works but all the decals were worn off off it and are only silver now.
How do we go about removing all of the decal and getting down to the paint. I'd rather have it all black than the way it is now as I have 2 other Redeyes in good shape. Any suggestions?

That was it. That was the problem.
With a fiddle of the upper tension, she was away.
She sews a beautiful stitch. I filled up a whole 8x8 piece of double fabric with thread just waiting for the problem to happen again, but it didn't.
That little burr was enough to stop that machine from sewing.
So I called her mama, and she'll be going home soon as we can get together.
But not before I play with it just a little bit more......

Congratulations, I'm sure you will be asked by others for help on their little machines. Good job!

I have two Willies, one electric and one non.
For the time being they are just pretties I dust, although hubby got electric Willy to run.
Don't know much about them.
Hubby traded one of his swords for them.
He's done that a few times now (trading swords for sewing machines).

I have an awesome hubby.

Wow, you have a free arm FW? I didn't know they could drop their feed dogs? So you are telling us that using the button holer is actually easy and the FW makes a nice button hole? You also have a zig zag attachment? I guess, I need to pay more attention to what is out there for those little girls.

You do have an awesome hubby. Deara, do both of your Willy's say April 17, 83, as the last patent date? I am just curious if maybe after that date nothing about the machines changed? Oh --- and I love your two Willy's!

The electric one has the April 17, 1883 as the last patent date.
The non-electric has a patent date of July 4, 1871.
