The black ones are so pretty; I have a tan one and it is a work horse. I keep it threaded for blue jean hemming most of the time. Mine came in a decent wood cabinet, cradle, book, and all from a thrift store for $35. I think I "need" a black one too, where the pair can sit there and contrast each other.

Anybody know how to do a major cleaning on one of these? I saw Billy's tutorials, but am worried I am going to do something wrong and not get it back together. Thanks!!

BTW, her name is Miss Ida, after my maternal grandmother who was a fabric lover and sewed for her entire family of 8 children clothing and quilts on a farm in central MO.

Melinda did you have to do a lot of work to it when you got it? I have ordered a repair and adjustment manual for it in case I need to do major stuff. Hope not...although I am mechanically inclined, I don't want to take the time fixing things this week!! I want to sew!! :-)

Does anybody have any long bobbins they would like to part with? I'd like a couple extra for my Davis VF. PM me if you have any. Thanks

I have a pink Atlas that I'd love to put back together--I have no idea what I did with all the parts!! It's destined to be a HC, but life got in the way and it hasn't happened yet.

I just got a 1/2 sized one a week or two ago. I have it cleaned up, but have never threaded and sewn on it yet. I was thinking I have another one, but if I do, I have lost it. (LOL--that really happens to me.) Mine little one is so very cute! I can't wait to sew on it.

    Others that Vestas love them.

Miz Johnny, could you show us newbies what a Vesta looks like? Thanx!

I need help with my featherweight, my patience is wearing very thin. LOL it atarted skipping stitches. i cleaned, oiled etc, it sewed for about ten minutes. DH cleaned, oiled, etc. i changed needle. have threaded and rethreaded, still skipps, even worse. it looks to me like the bobbin is the issue. the thread does not 'loop' around the bobbin case only once in several stitches. im thinking it is ssome dumb thing i am doing wrong, or missing. PLEASE help put me out of my misery. thanks.

Miz Johnny, not sure if you remember, but I have an Elna Supermatic like yours in your avatar pic. I have to go through it, and need a knee control. Does yours take the folding or bayonet knee control? I can't tell from the connector at the front of the machine. Thanks!

Actually not at all. I just threaded it and started sewing. Sorry Billy, then I cleaned it up and oiled it. Voila!! It has never missed a beat.
