    No, it shouldn't be noisy. Did you clean it really good, take off the throat plate, oil everything and grease the motor? There might be hardened grease in the motor or gears.

    Hubby was having a fit when I told him that I needed to grease the motor. He said that it did not sound like a motor sound. I will bring it to ladies night out and let you check it out. I want to use it as my class machine. Kathie

    Yes I have a Domestic, Eldredge, FC Henderson, Wheeler and Wilson, and Singers. But I couldnt find a store front sign for them.....:lol:

    Billy, you told someone that owned a FW not to use Liquid Gold on it but to use carnuba wax. I have seen waxes with carnuba wax but with other ingredients. What brand/name should I look for? Also, I have a 301A. Should I use Liquid Gold on that or the carnuba wax. Thanks

    Kathie, remember some of the FW's from on FW cleaning class? Some were not so much purring until after their deep cleaning, oiling, and greasing of the motor and gears!

    Glenn I don't have a source, except I have bought from the e-bay seller RWCollecting several times. Bill is great about answering your questions, and he knows antiques machines.

    You have a 1946 model, made in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Hope you enjoy playing with it! That would have been too much $$ for me, but others seem to be willing to pay that and a whole lot more... I guess if you can afford it and it's for charity, it's all good. :-D
    I paid more than that for my first one, but learned how to do a full service on it, then sold for more than I paid for it, so it wasn't overpriced for me!!
