Nancy, Here is a photo of the plastic part in the all metal machine. From what I have read in researching, this is the only place in the machine where the plastic part is used. I haven't taken the rest of the machine apart to see what is under the hood. Maybe someone else here knows.
    That looks like teflon.

Good tip... I have an older 66, and have used the bobbins that came with it (was my grams). But now that I have several old singers, there are all kinds of bobbins floating around in my sewing room. Good to know how to check...
So I'm thinking this is the case with the bobbins I got from my repairman for my 15-91. Bobbin winder appears to work, until I put a bobbin on it that is. I'm thinking I need to find some of the original Class 15 bobbins. Anyone have any spares I could buy or know of where to get them?

I just put the cone on my cone thread holder and thread it through the small eye on the Sidewinder, etc., and it works fine!!

Wow, I didn't think machines were powered that old! Please post a picture when you can!

    Nancy
Uhhhhh....when did electricity become available to homes? Not that early, I don't think. Probably can't find the motor because there never was one?
Actually, I bet your Wilcox and Gibbs was a treadle as most homes didn't get power until the 1920's and later.

    Nancy
Yep...that was exactly my point. No electricity in 1871, so no motor to find! :-)

Haha-!!! The drive up would be fun, but if I buy another machine, my DH will send me and all of them PACKING!!! He already got steamed over the Western Electric I bought a couple of weeks ago. And now I am secretly looking for a Featherweight that needs complete repaint. I have an idea for how I want to redo one, but I have to wait at least a month before I spend any more money!!

That brown & pink one is sure cute, though!!

Billy, do you have any more handcrank kits for the 99s? I have one I want to turn into a hc. Let me know. Thanks!
