Man, you gals are making me hungry to start searching again. But first I need a sewing table for the 15-91. Hoping to find one on Friday. Then I really should get the 66 up and running. THEN maybe I can start the search for the 301 I'm wanting. Of course, if one should show up I'd go for her, but she'd have to trip me, cuz I'm not searching yet...and that's the truphth!!!

Are you going to turn her into a treadle?
I have an industrial machine 241 - the bottom was full of big oil beads when I got her - nothing moved. All the oil tubes were very hard. I got her moving but the tension spring is wrong. I haven't got her sewing yet. If she didn't have such a good motor she would be a good one on a treadle. She turns real smooth. Someone had her in their house for upholstery then she set for years. Her table is like new. I need to get DH to put her head back on so I can work on her - she is pretty heavy.

I just won a Singer 201-2 on ebay. I can't copy the picture to show here, but it looks like it is in good condition, the decals are heavy and clear. I have a Pfaff that will sew a good 1/4" seam, but it skips stitches when going over more than two layers of cloth and I'm ready to throw it out the window. I figured that these old machines made many quilts, piecing and quilting, and that is all I really need. I've read reviews that say the 201 is the best machine singer ever made. For $207, that ain't bad (total $246).

Then, I just couldn't stop myself. I kept doing research. I wanted a portable. I now own a 301 which has been serviced, looks real good and cost me $137 (total 167). There were other 301's on ebay which have been bid well over $200, but they did not look as good as the one I won. I admit the Featherweights are prettier, but I think the 301 is a step above the Featherweight, and only 5 pounds heavier.

I now have absolutely NO excuse not to make a dozen quilts this year!

Hey Glenn, If your wife kills you... do you think she'd mind sending me the quilt pictured in your avatar?? Everytime I see it I like it that much more.

That is okay Glenn, you can only die once and than you get to go to sewing machine Heaven, nothing wrong with that LOl. Hubby told me that 14 machines are enough. The sad thing is that he is right. That is until the next one comes around that I want. I am wanting a coffin top and a red eye. Kathie

The problem I have is that each time I pine after a machine, then fulfill my "need", another one takes its place on my wish list. prob is im running out of room, proven by the fact I stubbed my little toe on a FW case, split the nail at the quick, hurts like he dbl hockey sticks. DSIL pointed out the obvious, too many machines for my small house. time for a new house?
