I've just spent a small fortune on these needles so darn it, I want to use them!
That would be my next thought, to try a 15x1 needle just in case someone has already adjusted it for you. When I got my used 319, I think someone had tried a 15x1 needle in it because it had one in it and would not sew at all, and is super cool with the real thing for sure. Good luck!! Also, whoever had tried to make it sew had loosened the pressure foot bar and put it back on backwards, yes I said backwards, and can you believe it didn't sew like that??!!
I re-oiled it this morning and for some reason that must have helped whatever was sticking. I was able to get it sewing. But, very slooooowly. I examined the foot control and saw that the bottom was cracked. I opened it up and with some tweaking was able to get the machine to sew faster...then the foot control basically broke into several pieces and fell apart. Sigh..... so now I'm on the look out for a green replacement foot control. Until then, I guess I steal my black 301 foot control. I've needed my thinking cap for all this!!!

It still sounds very loud but will keep oiling it! Oh yeah, and reading the manual because I have no idea what all the doo-hickeys do..

One of my Vintage 1960's Whites was out of time. It does happen.

[quote=Miz Johnny]I was sewing on my GF's Pfaff treadle at retreat, and noticed it was a bit "clunky". I cleaned and oiled, and when I pulled off the faceplate, found 10 pfennig. My guess is that had been in there a LONG time!!

    What is a pfennig???

It is funny how you can go from crazy high prices, to something like this.
