Miriam that story about your kids and the bird is really a good one. Wonder how many people would really like to have a bird tell there MIL just that same thing. As long as they are not saying it. What did your MIL say about it?

MIL was pretty mortified. She left the room and was very unhappy the rest of her visit. She probably thought the bird did it on cue. Worst of it was I didn't know about it until later. I just figured it was another disaster visit with MIL. more stories on my PDA

The only problems it has is with the case. I clean it often and have tried a variety of cleaners including bleach. But after a few months the moldy look returns. any suggestions?????
    Denise,

I had put a post for you on page 3250 about how to date your machine. No clue on the moldy look. My go-to cleaner is bleach for that, but hopefully someone will help you out.

Not really, just lucky to have daughters who pay attention to what their mom likes. I got the book for Christmas, and I use it for reference, and for lusting after machines. I remembered the pic of the American Girl or one of her sisters though, because I am on the lookout always for something that cute.

Also, your kids could have made a fortune renting out the bird. My MIL is great though, and I am going to try to be a good one.....I am off to a booming start with this dress though. It is almost done. Yay!!!!

We couldn't make that bird do that if we wanted to... I never even thought that one talked.

Skip that machine looks very nice. I have one to fix up some more - I don't think it is exactly like yours - the one I have is small and has the bobbin winder up to the top. The wiring is shot so I put on a HC - I either can't remember how to thread the shuttle or something was too tight to get the thread through so I should watch Muv's video.

Thank you all for the nice compliments on the 27. It really was a mess I did not know the decals were still there until I cleaned all the coal dust off. Now I have to learn how to thread and use it but I do have a manual and a complete puzzle box with attachments and even the screw drivers are there. So I will have fun with this one.
