Here's my two cents. I contacted sew-classic about the 66 bobbins being too big. She replied that hers are checked and will fit the older machines. All twenty that I bought work like a charm.

Aren't I sad today. I'm visiting DD north of Baltimore and brought my 1963 New Home to quilt a project. Well, the motor died today. For awhile she would take off and sew perfectly if I just bumped the wheel. Now she won't do anything. Its not the machine. With the belt removed I finished the seam by spinning the wheel by hand. And the motor does nothing even with the belt off. Sigh. Where in the world will I find a motor for Myrtle?

Are you sure it isn't a loose wire or a bad contact connection on the foot control or a bumped circuit breaker? Try a different outlet. You can get new foot controls pretty easy. Is it just a bolt on motor or is it internal? http://shop.sew-classic.com/Motor-Ne...s-SCE35L09.htm - that one is external bolt on. She says she is out of stock. I would call her anyway - usually she comes up with something. I'm thinking there are other places to find new sewing machine motors. Grainger maybe?

If it's an external motor, take it off and take to an appliance repair guy. It may just be brushes or worn contacts. I took my Universal in to get a new cord, but I know he went over the entire motor.

These are the quilt blocks I picked up the other day...they cost me 1.50... Anyone have an idea of date for these fabrics?

My record for number of thread colors on 1 bobbin was 15 on a class 15 bobbin and of course it was rusted once I got it all off. So I don't like multiple layers of thread on bobbins either.

I just heard from the 301's seller. She wanted to know what I wanted for the broken case or did I want to return the machine? My answer will make some you purist's hair stand on end - the price of a roll of duct tape and a can of spray paint. I want the case to store the machine after she makes a table runner, not for its possible historical value. I do not want to return a 301!!!!!

I have 5 of them and several cases. Wouldn't bother me in the least to hear you wrapping it in duct tape. Or painting it. Whatever works. I've also seen a few redos with contact paper. Better than getting thrown out, it might as well be useable.

use postal tape it sticks longer ,, if anyone try's to remove it,, it tears the case all to **** home depot has 97 cent spray paint
