Leaha, I am so jealous that you have THREE Willcox & Gibbs machines. I missed out on one the other day on Ebay which really upset me. I had arranged with the seller that if I won it, I would collect it from her in the UK in August, I put in a bid on an Auction Snipe site, and it sold for less than my bid!!! The reason was that she had put that she would sell to UK only, and I live in Ireland. When she agreed that I could collect if I won, she forgot to remove that block. So she lost some cash, and I lost a machine. I am still sore about it.

Doing good here Leaha. Admiring everyones machines and waiting (not so patiently) to get mine back. He is in the shop for a checkup. Don't want to use him if the wiring is bad. Also want to know that all the workings are in order. He is such a beauty it will be lovely to sew on him. When do you move? I couldn't imagine that. We've been in the same house for 24 years. My sewing room alone would be a nightmare! :) :)

Ok, I think I have been spending way too much time reading all the post. Last night I had a dream that Billy had wrote the perfect "how to" book. It was great. All I remember the print was purple and turquiose. It had really good diagrams. So come on Billy, you need to make my dreams come true. :-P

She is mine but still at a friends business that brought it down for us. Waiting for the work week for it to come home. Got it for $50 as the bobbin thread was not coming up. Hope it will be fixable and some one already PM me and thought it was wrong bobbin installation.

I am planning to do the actual quilting on this as it is a bit much for my more modern 6 1/2 yr old Janome 6500. Also looking forward to having a sewing area just set up for quilting only. DH is very supportive of me buying "new" machines as they are a fraction of the cost of the new quilting machines plus he loves working on them and the hunt for them.

Help please. My DH has my Singer Sphnix all cleaned and free wheeling so now I need to know what shuttle and bobbin it needs. It's number is D12753358. Any help will be so appreciated. Also what needle will this old girl need (not me, the machine)

I wanted to show what I adopted yesterday! My friend was out shopping garage sales yesterday and found this vintage machine. Called me and off I went! After going to the sale to check it out it came home with me! There are a few issues I have to work out-power cord (they didn't know where it was at), it needs a screw for the motor, I'm not sure what is going on with the lever in the cabinet. I know your leg/knee is to push on it to operate the machine but I'm not sure if there should be another piece to it? I'm also not sure if it needs a belt by the wheel? Looking in the book there was nothing noted about the lever or from the pictures I couldn't see if there was a belt.

I tried to research the machine but hit a deadend! :roll: Will you share the website for the White machines? I would like to see how old and what kind it is. The serial number is FR 3111401. Oh yes, and it came with all the attachments a few little sewing things (the normal-needles, wooden spools, screw driver etc.) the book-and the best part All this for $5.00!!

:thumbup: :thumbup: I figured if I can't find the power cord I have a beautiful machine to look at for next to nothing!

I'm off to run the tasting room today but will be checking in as often as I can. The sun is shining bright and will be another hot day!

Hey BoJangles,

Try sewing with no thread until you learn the foot pedal coordination.

Keep your presser foot up with no cloth for a few minutes until your feet/foot gets a feel for the treadle. Don't want the feed dogs scraping the bottom of your presser foot.

Then put fabric under the foot and try treadling and guiding fabric at the same time. It actually takes most people a few practice sessions to get their hands separated from their feet, me included :-)

When you can keep the machine going forward, and keep the fabric where you want it, then put thread in needle and see what happens when you sew.

This is actually what many of the manufacturers have suggested in their manuals, and it does help us to learn.

Can you post a picture of your thread tension assembly? We can take a look and see if we can help you figure out if it is installed correctly.
