I am Free Motion quilting on a 15-88 right now and I love it. I am actually beginning to enjoy the whole treadling process, but had a hard time learning to treadle. I just went back and forth and broke thread! Now I am FM quilting a Halloween panel and I am basically doing thread play all over the motiff's! So much fun.
I have always heard that the 201 was the best machine Singer ever made, but I don't have one to compare to my 15 so I don't know which would be better!
Nancy
I have a 201 and 15-90, both in treadles. I have free motioned on both machines, and I prefer free motion quilting on my 15-90 over the 201. The stitches on my 201 are beautiful, but for free motion quilting I like the look from my 15-90. Maybe I just need to play with the 201 more, but I did read on one blog that the person preferred free motion quilting on their 15-91 over their 201-2. This all could be because of the difference in the vertical bobbin vs the horizontal bobbin and the way the thread picks up while sewing.

Remember me posting about this machine that was at an auction we were going to today?
http://www.auctionzip.com/Full-Image/962113/fp49.cgi
Well...just wanted to update you that it was complete with all the cams, etc....and went for $75.
No...it didn't come home with me. I just don't have room for it. But both DH & I were drooling over it! LOL
And this machine was at the same auction:
http://www.auctionzip.com/Full-Image/962113/fp5.cgi
It went for $55.
Nope...it didn't come home with me, either! LOL

Both were complete steals! Esp. the industrial Singer...those usually go for about $500.

I have several machines myself and yesterday I hooked up 3 of them and finally went back to my 301 love that machine. I have made several quilts for our veterans hospital on it and did the quilting on my 319 which I love just as much. Don't think my FWs would like to hear that either.

I think I found out what this machine is...a 15-125. I saw a picture on page 106 and it sure looks like it. I don't really know anything about this type of machine, but I am going to look at it tomorrow afternoon. Hope it's what I'm looking for with the FMQ!!

I have left a message for the owner but have not heard back, yet. Can you tell me the model of this from the picture. I want an old electric singer for free motion quilting. I thought if I knew the model then I could find some info on-line before driving to another town. Thanks, Debbie
