I got another question....lol....my belt broke in my 66k, and I measured the circumfrence of the wheels with a peice of string and i came up with 68.89 inches. My question is, if I buy a length of belt that is 68 inches, (they are ebay) will this be ok? does the belt need to be a little bit smaller than the wheels so it can stretch a little? Sorry for the dumb question :-)

Most of the belts are 72" and then you cut the excess off but in your case you need a little more. You need the belt to be loose enough to almost slip and tight enough to not. You do not want to wear out the bushings in the machine with a tight belt.

Billy, I have a friend who picked up a Model 28K (portable) that was put out for garbage pickup. I helped her get the machine working, but the Bobbin winder is broken -- actually, snapped off where the wheel would attach to turn the winder. Anyway, do you have a bobbin winder for the 28k? And, how hard would it be for her husband to attach it? She is very excited about the machine - it is a 1901.

CONGRATULATIONS Nancy, look forward to seeing the pictures. Can I come visit it? ;)
LOL you certainly can come visit! I may have to excape our house full of grandkids so I can visit with that new machine myself! Having a lot of fun, but no playing with machines for me this week!

I want to make a trip up north next year. It would be fun. Enjoy those kids while they are there. The machines can wait. Have a great Thanksgiving.

I have the part (casting) she needs but she will have to swap out the workings to it. That is not hard to do at all but I will send you a PM to let you know the specifics.

Very interesting, I have been looking for info on the Domestic, that really helps. History can be pretty cool!

I have the "Iowa", shown next-to-last on page 1 of the illustrations. I also have this cool little Sears treadle:

Geeze Miz Johnny, that is the smallest treadle I have ever seen! Very cute.
