BZ quilting if this is the machine that says Shapleigh on the head - it has to be a pre 1900 machine. The Shapleigh Hardware Store was founded in 1843 and stayed that until 1900 when Mr. Shapleigh retired. The Store was then renamed the Novell-Shapleigh Hardware Store. They made lots of things including sewing machines. Anyway, if your machine is in fact a Shapleigh -- it is very vintage. Also, if the machine is a true Shapleigh, it has to be a treadle or hand crank.

I'd like to see better pictures up close. I never heard of this company. If the machine is an original Shapleigh it is not a clone.

I'll try to post more pictures.

Donna, clean with Goop or GoJo non pumice! Or just get some Blue Magic TR3 Resin Glaze! Billy has a tutorial for cleaning on here if you do a search. You can use Liquid Gold also on the cabinet and machine to shine them up.

Was looking for sewing machines on craigslist and found this. There are two machines in the list. This is the way to have a garage sale. Thought ya'll might enjoy.

I sent my BIL/SIL over to the sale to get the safe for me. They are in Slidell so it is just across the pond from them. I told Gary to call about the sewing machines if they still have them I know the safe is still there.

But your right the guy sounds like a hoot and a half!
