Default Missing bobbin parts for an old Dominion? machine

I'm not sure if this machine is worth fixing. After pulling it out again, realized it isn't as good as I remembered. Here are some pics of the area most in need of parts.

OK, hook, slide plate and throat plate, two throat plate screws - If it's the one I'm thinking of the slide plate and throat plate are ordered as one piece, and there's a good chance I have the hook here if you want it. I've been looking for an excuse to part that machine out... Otherwise, it looks like it's just cleanup and oil and such.

Are there parts for the machine in the bag beside it?

The black Dominion has a throat and slide plate. I took them off to get a better picture of the bobbin area. No, there are no more parts for this machine in that bag. There was a bobbin case, but it has a left (11:00 oclock) facing finger, so not for this machine.

I will be contacting Glen about the Featherweight bobbin case for the 301. Thanks for that tip.

Miriam is also looking for parts for the 15 clone. I'm not sure if I want to get it running, but if you could pm me the prices I can let you know. Thanks very much.

If all you're missing is the hook, I'd probably fix it. If the bobbin case is the wrong one (the 11 oclock should fit a 15-90 or a 15-91) then the one you got with the 301 should fit it. It's a SS only machine.... Unless I'm wrong, all you're missing then is the hook... I'll PM you when I figure out which one it is. I'm really slow this week though, the roof is taking way more time than I'd anticipated.

Don't you hate it when other things get in the way of quilting and fondling your fabric, hahaha. I was hopeful that the bobbin case that came with the 301 would fit one of my machines. Possibly this 15 clone. Miriam suggested I check out the site Tools for self Reliance and it is a good one. My bobbin area is not quite the same as any of the ones shown, but close to the last one. So I may need more than just the hook and bobbin case. A tension C/Y clip?? I'm off the next 2 days and will go through all my machines to see what I have and if any are close to the clone's bobbin area.

Boy do I ever! I wouldn't even mind either if the rain was well timed. Fridays seem to be the days for rain lately, and that's when I usually have the most of the roof exposed!

I think there's a good chance that new bobbin case will fit. TFSR.org is one of my favorite sites for sure. That c/y clip didn't look like it was missing on your machine, just different. Perhaps I was looking at it wrong, but that little "arm" on the right of the hook race should take the place of the C/Y clip. There's no screw hole for a clip to hang on.

Here's my black Singer 301, it was free from Craig's List. Serial # NA200408
On Tuesday my friend and I learned how to remove the parts of the bobbin case base on her FW and my 301. Her's was really rusty underneath, we cleaned it all out and it sews beautifully again.

I checked the wiring and it was okay, dirty but no gouges or nicks in the cords. Turned the wheel to see if the machine was seized and it wasn't - bonus there! I then lifted the little extension table and looked at the bobbin. Hmmm, it didn't look right, kind of sticking out. I went to release it and it fell out onto my hand. It was the wrong bobbin case. I let her know that the machine wouldn't run without the proper bobbin case and was told it wasn't worth while to her to put any money into it. She has 3 more old machines at home. She said she was going to throw it in the garbage so I offered her $25.00 for it and the case it came in. She was happy and I was happy. I then looked up the cost of a new bobbin case for the machine and realized it takes the same one as my Featherweight. Woo hoo!! Until I can afford to purchase another case at least I can use it. When I got home from work I took this beauty apart and was amazed at how clean it was. There was a bit of rust that came clean with a good oiling and the outside is in pretty good shape. A few rub marks and a few scratches, but all in all I think she will preform well. I need to find my Lube before running her, she was very dry. Here is a pic of my newest baby before I took her apart and cleaned her up.
Love your story with its great outcome. So nice that you were able to rescue the 301, a real gem, if you ask me.

Sharon, I can't see the picture. Is it just me? I see a "broken image" icon when replying to your message.

Sorry, no picture. My mom's 301 is beige. It was purchased in '53. Still has a beautiful stitch.
