Lucky you that the motor wasn't working. The 201s are wonderful to sew with. Have fun treadling!

Great find and at the best price. Wait until Lace Lady sees it she is from Ireland. I usually name mine after the lady I get them from or if it was a mother's or grandmother's then I use there name.

I found one of those 201's on CL for $30. Drove an hour to get it. It only had a zipper foot. All I wanted was the beautiful queen anne cabinet anyway. But I got it home and tried it out and fell in love. A couple weeks later the man I got it from called and said he found some bobbins, would I want them. He brought them to the place I work. Then months later I got a note at work. He had lost my phone number so he took a note for me to where I work one hour a week. They misplaced the note for a month. When I got the note I called him. He said he found a couple feet, would I like them. Sure, so we drove up there and he had a big box of stuff. It has a buttonholer, all kinds of feet, zigzagger, blind hemmer, beautiful manual and on and on. It was his wife's mother's sewing machine. She hated to part with it but they were moving to assisted living.

I'm setting out, in a little while, to pick one up....Woooo Hooooo. Found it on Craigslist. It is in a nice little #40 maple cabinet:

It doesn't have a cord but I don't care, I'll just pick one up. It does have the knee/foot pedal, though.

What a score! I love my 201, and you will surely enjoy yours just as much.

I'm thinking I would like mine better if I had a different foot on it - what is a free motion foot like to use? how does it work? Can you see what you are doing? I can see better with my 403 but it might just be the foot. I do like my 201 a lot.
