    Hi,
    Anyone here use a walking foot on your featherweight? I have two and would like to set one up for some small quilting projects - mug rugs, placemats, etc. Also, what is a good source for one - does it have to be made specifically for a featherweight?
    Thanks in advance,
    lots2do

    I have read in other threads that a walking foot is not recommended for a featherweight. A quick Google turned up plenty of sites that sell a short-shank walking foot to fit a featherweight, but further Googling indicates there are problems getting these generic type feet to work properly on a featherweight (they seem to not feed the fabric evenly between top and bottom). There was a walking foot specifically designed for featherweights called the "black penguin" or something like that -- apparently because of its height and color -- but they are very rare and very expensive if you do happen to find one.

    Just found a reference to a Singer low-shank walking foot that works on a featherweight ("smooth and even-feed walking foot"). Apparently the Clotilde deluxe low-shank walking foot does not work; the foot does not line up properly with the feed dogs.

    Thank you so much for your research, Prism. I guess I should have done that for myself! I certainly don't want to do anything that might damage my machines...but it was a nice thought.
    :)Have a good one!

    I use a walking foot all the time on my FW and it hasn't hurt it a bit. I ordered it from a company that sells FWs and their accessories.

    This is where I ordered my walking foot
    <http://www.jslyle.com/featherweight.htm>
    I also bought their carrying case for the FW. I like it very much. I never wanted to trust the handle on my original case.
    Hope this helps.
