I'm not an expert either but it doesn't look like a Singer to me. I think a lot of people think all old machines are Singers. My mom said my grandmother's treadle was a Singer when, in fact, it appears to be a Franklin. I need to open up the cabinet and make sure (when I get time to take the lamp apart and off the cabinet).

It might once have been her grand mothers Singer, but for some reason it was "upgraded" to a Japanese zigagger. It was probably a pratical decition at the time, but these days I lean towards an old 66 in a cabinet like that ;- )

When I was learning to sew, my Mom had an old White cabinet with a newer White Japanses made zigzag machine in it. After she passed away, we found the 1930's White machine that would have been original to the cabinet in the attic. So we figured she'd "upgraded" some time in the 50's and the old machine got stored. None of us kids knew it was up there.

She had upgraded to a Viking in the 90's, no idea where that second White ended up.
