What sewing things did Santa Bring you?

I got vintage buttons from my mother in law's widower companion. They belonged to his wife and mother in law. There are two metal buttons that say Grand Rapids Police-probably off a uniform. Also there is a bag of hundreds of little mother of pearl buttons. If only they could talk! I would love to hear the stories!

I'm still all excited about the Rocketeer I got as an early gift. On Christmas day I also got a rolling case for my take-to-classes machine and a quilting template.
At my big family gathering, however, my favorite aunt told me that she recently remembered that she has a "really old" hand crank sewing machine in storage and asked if I'd like to have it. I'm pretty sure my eyes got really wide at that offer because she just laughed and said it comes with a price...I have to help her dig it and a few other things out! She doesn't remember if it's a Singer or not, or any details, just that it's old, hand-crank, has a wooden case, and it "works perfectly".
So we've made plans...this February I'm going to go visit and stay with her for about a week, my cousin & I will help her clean some stuff out of storage (she's recovering from cancer and my uncle has terrible back problems so I'm more than happy to do some labor for her for a few days even if I wasn't getting a new toy out of it), and along with my other aunt we're all going to go to the quilt show that's put on by the guild that my grandmother/their mother used to belong to. AND, if we have the energy, she might teach me some rug hooking - that's HER big crafty obsession. I can't wait, for so many reasons! (This is my FAVORITE aunt, I can't even express how much I adore this woman; I don't get to see her often and with the recent cancer scare....spending a week with her will be wonderful!)
I'll definitely post about it, if/when I get the machine. I have no idea what to expect so I'm not getting TOO excited. You know how sometimes people remember things very differently than how they really are... I don't have any hand crank machines and have never used one though, so matter what it is and what condition it's in I am sure I will enjoy playing with it!

Back in November I bought some fabric to make gifts, but it has been a lousy month and I never got around to it. So at least I've got some more fabric. Best present was getting "cancer is in complete remission" for my feline overlord and helper Pumpkin, so I'm not terribly bothered about most of the other things.

My sweet DD gave me Alex Askaroff's new book "Isaac Singer The First Capitalist" - was sent direct from him from England - great surprise! - can't wait to read but will have to be after all the out of town relatives go home. It will be crazy here for at least another week.

My oldest son and his wife got me one of the many dvd's of Last of the Summer Wine. I love that show. Since they are released by the BBC, the videos do not play on our US players, so.... They got me the player too. Yea!!!! Now I can watch part of the shows, till I can get the others in the series. Just have thirty more to go!!! Yipes. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a wonderful new year.
