Default What's the trick about getting a thread out of a FWs bobbin area?

I opened up a FW I bought last year to clean it up and sew with it.... gotta get a baby quilt done before the shower on Saturday. When I looked at the bobbin area, the little finger that goes into the throat plate wasn't where it is supposed to be. So, I removed the throad plate and was ready to fit the finger in the right place and there it was..... a thread. That dreaded thread. It's probably why I was able to get this machine for little money. It probably didn't work..... due to that thread.

I took the tiny screw out of the crescent shaped piece but the bobbin assembly isn't moving. I'm nervous enough about taking the bobbin assembly apart.... what's the trick?? There is something I don't know. So, HELP! I know you all know what I need to do.

Okay, I got the gib assembly moved but the thread is under the whole thing. Is it possible to take that out? I don't see any screw, etc.

Nanna, be super careful around the gib; they can snap off, and be sure never to pry at all at all!

You will solve this, I am sure! It is quite a common thing with FWs. Can you post a photo, please, of the part which has you stumped right now? Then maybe I can talk you through, as I had a similar problem with a FW a few months ago, but I cannot talk you through it without seeing a photo.

    :-)

Thanks Cecilia. I think I may have gotten it. I was able to move the gib and take the bobbin base out. The thread was under that. By turning the machine up and on the side, I was able to use tweezers from underneath. I'm hoping I got it all. It was wrapped around under there. And, my computer that I can post pictures with is in the shop.... issues with a bunch of gunk that had been added when it was set up. I can't post a picture with the laptop I'm using at the moment.

Anyway, I'll post again if I still need help....

    Jean,

Go here: { http://thefeatherweight221factory.com/page10.php } and click on "Thread or Machine Jam" down on the lower left. There is detailed instructions on how to clear that thread jam. I know you got it now, but book mark this for the next time.
