Default Where's a good place to sell some of my vintage machines?

    Besides Ebay?
    Their fees are getting ridiculous.
I have a few machines that I'd like to get rid of.
    I'm running out of space.

Ok, I'll say it.. Craigslist? Free is a good price.

Or you can open an album here and let folks know that machines in the album are available and to PM you if interested....

I've always wondered that too - I often see an add on Craigslist where it will say "I've seen the same machines selling for $200- $300" for something I see sell on ebay for about $75-$100. I'm always tempted to ask them where they find a place that can sell them for that price - I've never found it.

We are considering taking some up and putting them on consignment with a friend that owns an Antique shop. He'll take 30% of what we can get though.

    Ms Grace,

I'm asking the same question. Craig's List in central IL is dead. Nothing to very little regarding sewing machines is selling. My last three were on for three months and none sold. A few nibbles but no sales.

My wife has signed up for the local Facebook sale thing but we haven't listed anything yet.

Macybaby, Next time I see an add like those you mentioned, I'm going to respond and ask them why they aren't listing their machines there.

I also thought about this but worried that small parts would be removed. I also have no luck selling SM's on CL but I can also get some fabulous deals so I guess it balances out. To sell something I'm forced to use ebay and deal with fees and shipping. Some machines my only option is to give away, the demand is so low. I learned to hard way not to buy these machines as tempting as they are for a ridiculously low price unless I plan to use them personally.

    I do Craigslist and eBay.

I find that Singers and Kenmores do fairly well on Craigslist, since most people have heard of them, and have a general idea of what to expect.

If generally only sell higher priced machines on eBay, or machines that I think will appeal to a wider audience.

You might try http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/S...tions/messages. They have all kinds of machines, etc, posted for sale.
