Default You people are a "bad influence" A.K.A my first quilted anything.

Well out of boredom tonight I made my first "quilt square" of sorts. I guess I'll call it a pot holder or a coffee coaster. Any way a couple of 5" squares of camo and a 1/8" piece of foam (batting) Later.... I figured out how to use my "quilting guide " attachment. If I could post photo's or links from my phone I would let you all get a good laugh.

Nice job! Now put some binding on it and you'll be truly hooked and on to bigger things

Dan, that is a great job! You certainly made good use of the quilting guide - such regular even squares... Cut your binding on the bias and you will cruise round those curved corners.

Camouflage placemats! You are really on to something, table mats for hunters!

I don't think anyone was being gentle, truthful for sure. You did a great job. Bet you would enjoy doing t-shirt quilts. Happy quilting. We are good - we offer ways to stay busy doing good things. Your children will be so proud of you - more men should show their talents in fabric.

Thank you all for looking and the encouragement. The even stitching I don't think I had much to do with, my little 128 is a Gem in that department. Hard to do it "wrong" with her.

and as far as making the lines evenly spaced and straight, again I just used this little foot thing that was included, and it almost guided itself ( Stiff batting )

I just noticed that in the picture my thread missed the last thread guide, I don't sew like that, the green cloth was just thrown in there for the picture, the background was to "busy" for my camera to focus without it.

GENTLE? your little quilt is perfect. My husband is 84 and he just quilted a king size with me watching on the other side of the LA. He wouldn't let me rest! He is a work-a-holic and I'm not. He still works in the oilfield. But figured the pattern and etc. You will become addicted.

Not laughing here-if what you did came from bad influences from the rest of us, then we all did a great job bringing out your creativity. You do very nice work. Trim the edges evenly, put on a binding, and proudly display!
