I thought I would share aa few quilts I did for a friend using his fathers neck ties. Apparently he wore them all the time and he had plenty! There were one of the few things my friend kept upon his death. I ended up creating three different quilts.

The first on was for him and his wife. I actually used the entire tie as it was. I was going for the fan pattern. I do the quilting at my local quilt shop using their long arm.

This was the third quilt I did for his daughter. I did a crazy quilt pattern using up all the left over bits and pieces from all the ties. You can see on the sides I use the small ends and large ends of the points.

This was the second quilt I did for and it was for his brother who was a single guy. So I really wanted something that looked more manly than most quilts!

You can see I just cut strips in different widths from the ties. I was really pleased with this one.

Very pretty quilts! I've always wondered about using mens ties in my quilts but haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the inspiration.

Those are outstanding. My mother did 1 that radiated out from the centerlike a large dresden plate. She used the wide tips as a border. They were My dad's. My DH's dad's and some of my Dh's. We have 3 sons and she gave it to the oldest one. I really liked the one you did that looks like Chineese coins.
